  1. How the clips construct & represent gender:
These clips represent the argument that the modern male is metrosexual.
We used the four element Mise-en-scene, Camera, Editing and Sound to analyze the fight club.
This is what we found; mise-en scence- Acts feminine as he goes to a support club and the men there are hugging and crying with each other, Insomnia is dominating his life, generally wears smart, dull clothing, He has a consumer orientation, Acts sensible and is materialistic.

Camera-The scenes in the clips pan with his thought process. There are lots of close ups which focus on specific objects that eventually lead back to him looking stressed or confused. The camera often looks down at him which is a sign of weakness when he is talking to different people the camera looks up at the person hes communicating with which shows that he is below them.

Sounds- The sound in these clips are really relevant to theme of metrosexualism. When they guy is in the support group there are sof voices and cry which is quite feminine, this contrasts with the fact that when he is in the bar there is manly banter and pool cues. there is a lot of dialog and the way the main character talks fit the fact that he has insomnia, he does not seem with it and talks in a very unfocused way. like he is battling with his masculinity.

Editing-The conversation between the alfa male man and the more metrosexual shows the power between them as the shots are continuous between them. There is continuity when the man flashes in and out of the focus. The editing of the shots is slower when they are talking and as it gets more intense the shots get faster.

    Difference and power:
When he called Brad Pitt, Brad Pitt was more in control, portraying masculinity such as drinking beer and using bad language =, whilst the other man is moaning about being materialistic.
