  1. expensive house and carssuggests a middle class social class
Where as the vulgar picture and diegetic dialogue suggests a more can represent the underclass as well as her still being in bed yet this could also be interpreted to mean they are middle class and do not have to work. the man getting up early to work suggests they are working class.
    Sophisticated pop
Sunglasses covers their eyes, middle class.
Juxtaposition: the establishing shot and the page three girl glamour model.
    Leather: sexual/ vulgar

  2. Continuing:
Materialism of the middle class and the values of the working class challenging the attitudes and values of both social classes
The cars have an extreme close up putting them in your face just like the pictures of the page 3 girl showing vulgarity.

  3. Shameless- the dad re-enforces and challenges the stereotype of the 'Under Class' becuase although he is dressed very uncouthly and crass, takes drugs, is violent and an obvious alcoholic he is a very smart individual he has a wide vocabulary (Shakespeare).

The quick cuts and different uses of angles (jump cuts) show the unstable and odd lifestyle of this underclass family.

The family are uncouth and unruly and the audience watching feel they are in a 'foreign' environment becuase at the beginning the man is shown as badly dressed, has long hair and a beer belly. And the family are also representations of this for example no pants worn and an underage woman with a baby.

There is alcohol on the kitchen table, and empty bottles on the windowsill, which represents an unhealthy lifestyle and untidy living conditions.

The use of an underage girl sitting at the table feeding a baby, denotes that she is a underage mother and is a stereotypical trait of underclass life.

Although the family is clearly underclass, the family are united and therefore challenge the stereotype that underclass families are broken.

At the end, there is a juxtaposition between the middle class man in the suit and the underclass family, especially Frank, they are binary opposites to one another, rich and poor, unclean and clean etc.
